Requirements for being considered a Domestic Partner

The PEBB Affidavit of Domestic Partnership requires that both parties declare they:

  1. Are at least 18 years of age;
  2. Allocate a close private relationship and are liable for each other’s general wellbeing;
  3. Are the sole domestic partners of each other;
  4. Are not wedded to anyone and have not had another domestic partner within the preceding six months;
  5. Are not linked by blood closer than would bar marriage in the State of Colorado
  6. Have mutually shared the same standard and lasting residence for at least six months instantaneously prior to the date of the Affidavit with the goal to carry on doing so for an indefinite period;
  7. Are equally financially accountable for basic living expenses defined as the cost of food, cover, and any other expenses of preserving a home. Domestic partners need not contribute evenly or jointly to the cost of these expenses providing they concur that both are in charge for the cost. If demanded, both would be able to present at least three of the subsequent as authentication of their joint accountability (information should be dated to authenticate eligibility at time of conscription)
    1. Joint mortgage or charter.
    2. Description of the domestic partner as chief receiver for a life insurance or a retirement bond.
    3. Description of the domestic partner as primary recipient in the employee/ covered member’s will.
    4. Long-lasting power of attorney for health care or financial management.
    5. Joint ownership of an automobile, a joint checking account, or a joint credit account.
    6. A relationship or cohabitation contract which necessitates both of the parties to offer support for the other party.
